what we believe
We believe in Jesus Christ, our loving Lord. We are called to live out our faith by following Christ’s teaching to “love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind, and with all your strength … and love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12:30-31)
Some additional Bible verses that paint a picture of who we are:
JOHN 10:10 — [Jesus said] “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have is abundantly.” Christianity is not about sacrificing now in order to earn eternal life later. It is about loving others, knowing that you are loved, and living a full, enriching, “abundant” life starting right now.
HEBREWS 12:1 — “Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.” Let us run the race of life God puts before us with the knowledge that there is a host of others encouraging us along the way.
EPHESIANS 2:8-9 — “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God — not the result of works, so that no one may boast.” We believe in grace, the unearned, unmerited favor of God; a gift freely given by God as an expression of Go’d unfailing love for us.
ROMANS 8:38-39 — “For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” God loves us unceasingly, wants to be in relationship with us, and is continuously pursuing us. God’s love is perfect and eternal.
JOHN 3:16-17 — “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through Him.” This message shows us that God’s love is real. Jesus Christ on Earth takes our faith out of the realm of the academic and into our everyday lives.
